  • 1. How effective is compounded GIP/GLP1?

    Compounded GIP/GLP1  is a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor and GLP-1 receptor agonist. GIP and GLP-1 are satiety hormones that are naturally produced by the intestine.


    compounded GIP/GLP1 mimics these hormones, which leads to feeling full sooner after eating and remaining full longer. It also slows down digestion, which can help with portion control and hunger.”


    It sounds similar to Ozempic and Wegovy b12 — and it is. But the dual-hormone mechanism makes it distinct.


    Due to its dual-hormone mechanism,it appears to provide a greater improvement in glucose control than Ozempic.



    This medication must be used in conjuction with adequate exercise and food portion control to be most effective.

  • 2. What is the cost?

    Compounded GIP/GLP1 is typically more costly than Wegovy b12 (semaglutide). The price varies depending on your prescribed dosage. The cost of the office visit with your medication will typically run between $85-$200 per injection. There are added lab fees for your first visit unless, you have recently had blood work completed. These fees typically run $100.

  • 3. How often should you take compounded GIP/GLP1?

    Compounded GIP/GLP1 is injected once per week. 

  • 4. When should the dose be increased?

    It is recommended to increase every 4 weeks. Your dosage of compounded GIP/GLP1 will continue to increase until you find one that is suitable for you. Your prescriber will try to keep the compounded GIP/GLP1 dose as low as possible until they find the most effective dose. The typical dosage is 5.0mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 12mg and 15mg.

  • 5. Where does the injection go?

    Under the skin(subcutaneously) of your stomach, inner thighs, or upper arms.

  • 6. Is it painful?

    The injections use a diabetic needle and are injected subcutaneously therefore, there is minimal, if any, pain. 

  • 7. What are the potential side effects?

    Potential side effects include:

    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Constipation
    • Decreased appetite
    • Abdominal pain
    • Injection site reactions
    • Heartburn or other indigestion symptoms
    • It can also put you at risk of hypoglycemia. 

  • 8. Can I do a telemedicine visit?

    After at least one in person visit, you may be eligible for a telemedicine visit. We would require you to take a picture of you on your scale with the weight so we can record for our records.  You will also be required to schedule an in office visit at least once every three months.

  • 9. How do I receive my medication after completion of my telemedicine visit?

    We can ship or send an uber to deliver your medication.  You will be responsible for the cost of the delivery.
